The feminine longing: desire as direction

feminine leadership inner oracle sacred feminine
A woman is standing in the middle of a valley. She is wearing a long flowy red dress. The weather is very windy.

There is a quiet voice within every woman that does not shout, but insists. It speaks through longing, sensation, and a desire for what has not yet taken form. This voice is not born of lack, but of an inner knowing that something meaningful is calling us forward. Too often, we learn to doubt it, to soften it, or to silence it in the name of reason and safety. Yet this ache is not a weakness to overcome—it is a form of guidance rooted in the body and the feminine intelligence. This text is an invitation to remember, listen, and trust what has been quietly asking for your attention all along.

Listening to the call within

There is something that has been forgotten, buried deep within us: our capacity as women to experience longing for something, a state, a creation, a sensation, that is not yet part of reality. When longing takes hold of us, it can be overwhelming in its intensity. We feel a calling. It can concern any aspect of our lives. Often, for example, we feel a longing in our love life. For example, the longing to be cherished, appreciated, and valued by a partner who truly understands us. The longing to feel like a woman with someone, to be able to let our guard down, to trust, and to let ourselves be, without self-judgement. Other times, it is a longing for a place, a special place. A desire for motherhood or to bring a creative project to life. The characteristic of longing is that it is impossible to put aside. If we tried to forget it, to no longer feel this desire, we would have to put ourselves aside and, in a way, erase ourselves.

But what place do we give to this longing, this desire? The truth is that we often try to ignore it or accommodate it.

We are often simply afraid that this desire will begin to consume us, as if we risk being devoured entirely. Most of us have been taught to be rational and logical. We have also been taught not to expect too much from life and not to have illusions. This injunction to approach life rationally completely contradicts our natural capacity for desire and longing. It forces us to remain logical when we are feeling. Logic takes over, obscuring feelings and sensations. Because feeling longing is not a bad thing; it is a natural experience of desire for a woman. And desire shows us the path to our deepest fulfilment; it is a guide.

The ache that knows the way

It is terrible to realise how many women doubt their desires and longings. Because this ache that comes from the deepest depths of our being is a form of guidance. It is somatic, sensory and sensual guidance. It is part of the power of feminine energy, which guides us instinctively, offering us sensations, impressions and intuitions. When we try to diminish the ache because we judge it inappropriate or too great, we are, in fact, preventing ourselves from fully realising our potential. We do not allow our bodies to suggest a path. It is not surprising that this seems challenging in a society that has forgotten the body's intelligence and swears only by the mind. Many of us have forgotten how to trust desire and this bodily intelligence.

Longing also has an important place in business for those called upon to create products, experiences, and structures. We read and hear everywhere that the most important thing is to have a solid business, marketing, and sales strategy. And of course, that matters tremendously.

But when we lead a business solely from strategy and the mind, we also lose access to the intelligence of the body and our inner guidance.

Leading a business from a balance of masculine and feminine energy means being attentive to our bodies and our inner callings and desires. Perhaps this means trusting ourselves to talk about a certain subject. Or listening to our longing to create a podcast. It may not be strategic or make sense intellectually, but it is our bodies that help us bring into the world what really matters.

The feminine yes

Another way to look at longing is to realise that it is a ‘full body yes’. If, for example, you feel a very strong urge to connect with other women and create regenerative spaces, including plants, nature, and a sense of community, this is your body and your feminine energy guiding you. It is not rational. But if the desire does not leave you, if you long to live this reality, it is because your feminine energy knows it is within your reach and is part of what makes you feel good. This is not logical or mental information. But we must relearn not to let everything be guided by the mind and logic, which are often limited and clouded by fear.

A longing, a desire, is such a powerful force that it can help you take action. It goes far beyond fears. It goes far beyond the narrow definition of what life can be and who you can be. It is the feminine energy that guides you on your true expansion. A desire always leads to expansion. And don't we always want to grow, create, and align ourselves more and more with our true inner power?
